Frequently Asked Questions
What is a Personal Care Agency?
A personal care agency is a non-medical service that provides assistance with “Activities of daily living”. Activities of daily living are defined as,
“Those personal activities in which individuals normally engage in, or activities that are required for an individual’s well-being whether performed by them alone, by them with help of others, or for them by others, including eating, dressing, mobilizing, toileting, bathing, and other acts or practices to which an individual is subjected”. (Taken from Health Care Assistant Registration Act Rules).
Our approach to care is comprehensive. A Registered Nurse conducts a physical assessment, to ensure that every aspect of care is being addressed. When skilled medical, nursing or therapy services are recommended, we will help coordinate and arrange for those services to be delivered right to your home.
What kind of experience do your Personal Care Aids have?
Most have worked in the Home Health industry and have a great love for the work they do. We hire many caregivers who are CNA's, HHA's and who have nursing and professional backgrounds, they are working for Home Option to provide a valuable service and have an understanding of the importance of the care they provide.
Do you screen the people who will be coming into my home?
Home Option verifies and checks all references and employment experience prior to hiring. Each employee we hire is required to be fingerprinted and undergo a BCI and FBI background check. This process is conducted through the Utah State Department of Health, Bureau of Health Facility Licensure.
Do we get the same person every time?
Home Option has a large pool of caregivers. This ensures that even last minute requests for help can be covered on short notice. Personal Care Assistants are often scheduled to the same client on a regular basis. However; sometimes it is impossible to keep the same person scheduled on the same shift. Fluctuations in Clients' needs and Employees' needs requires us to be able to effectively interchange the caregivers as needs require.
Are you regulated?
We are regulated by the State of Utah Health Department - Bureau of Health Facility Licensure. Our Employees have the following requirements:
1. CPR Training 2. First Aid Training 3. BCI/FBI Criminal Background Screening/State Registered 4. Current Immunizations Screening 5. Must attend Monthly Employee Development Meetings/ In-service Meetings 6. On-site video & audio library for employees to utilize.
Couldn't I just hire someone I know privately?
Many people choose to hire a friend or relative. This brings with it many unforseen costs. As a employer you are required by law to carry insurance and workers' compensation coverage. Overseeing an employee and arranging insurance and etc. can be very time consuming. With a caregiver from Home Option Senior Care your time will be free to worry about more important things. Home Option pays all required federal employment taxes and worker compensation insurance for each employee. The services we provide protect your and your loved one from having to deal with taxes and employment problems that come up. Home Option Senior Care provides job security and many benefits for it's employees that are hard to match in a private setting.
Indeed, having a private caregiver can be a frustrating experience. It is much like putting all your eggs in one basket, If your caregiver is sick or quits, Home Option is able to alleviate the problems associated with finding a replacement . Looking at it from the employee's point of view, Home Option is able to provide job security plus many "perks" for our employees that are hard to match in a private setting
What if I am not happy with the Personal Care Aid you send?
We want you to be happy with the care that is given. If you have a concern about a particular caregiver , you can certainly address them to Home Option and we would be glad to work on making the appropriate change.

Why would I choose your agency over the others? What sets you apart?
At Home Option Senior Care we understand that personal responsibility and accountability are required to create a high-performance organization. We focus on being the best at what we do by putting our excellence into our work. We expect that from all of our employees. Our efforts are focused on:
1 - Recruiting, Training and Maintaining quality, responsible and accountable caregivers.
2 - Each new individual that is brought into our care system is assigned a case manager. A customized care plan is created with input from family members, and our coordination team.
3 - The care coordination team consists of an RN, and the scheduling supervisort and the case manager.
Do you have a "Quality Assurance" program?
We believe that there is always room for improvement and have instituted a program to regularly check how we are doing. Our "Quality Assurance" specialists are constantly gathering information from our clients and professionals with whom we work. This information is then shared with the caregivers in a one-on-one situation when necessary and with the group as a whole in our monthly Employee Development Meetings.
